On Sunday, October 4th, despite the COVID pandemic, the Highlands community came together once again to support the 10th annual Empty Bowls benefit for the Highlands Food Pantry. The fundraiser is co-sponsored by The Bascom Center for the Arts, First Presbyterian Church of Highlands, and the International Friendship Center.

Due to the pandemic, this year the event was held as a drive-through in the Presbyterian porte-cochere, with masked volunteers taking orders and handing out pre-packaged soups and hand-thrown ceramic bowls.

There are empty bowls on many of our neighbors’ tables, and the donations from this event help to fill those bowls with nutritious food. Additional donations to the Food Pantry are gladly accepted and very much appreciated all year long.We extend a heartfelt thank-you to all who participated to make the event a success, even in this troubled year.
